JPR Intership/Work

So many you know (maybe?) that I'm currently interning at J Public Relations (JPR). JPR is a full service public relations firm providing media relations, social media campaigns, event campaigns and crisis communications. I've been there since April 2010 and I enjoy it. Some days it's crazy busy and others it's slow. It really depends on what's going on with the clients.

Right now some of my responsibilities are writing press releases (favorite!), fact sheets (favorite!), updating clients social media accounts (favorite!), updating clients online calendars and the usual errand run. One of the clients I'm assigned to is Playa Grill and Margarita Bar in Mission Valley, San Diego. It's Mexican cuisine cooked with sustainable meats, farmed-fresh produce and house-made sauces and salsas. And it's GOOODDD, especially their Valrhona Chocolate Martini.

A week and half ago, we had the official Grand Opening Party for the media. I personally thought it was a success! I assisted with writing grand opening press release, event promotion and event check-in. When I was checking people in, I met plenty of important media in San Diego, from TV, newspaper and magazines! Throughout the event I asked people what they liked and I loved these comments "Whatever they put in their Fajitas was bomb! Some of the best!", "This outdoor patio and fire pit is pretty neat, it's relaxing." It was great to hear good reviews for our client! I hope the grand opening event drives more traffic to Playa Grill and Margarita Bar and garners them some coverage from the event!
